Foreign Policies

The foreign policies goals for Venezuela:
Social justice: Venezuela is providing more than just financial support for the country of Haiti, for the second of the Haiti earthquake awareness, Venezuela has been sending in a line of advanced doctors, food and tons of water for survivors. Venezuela has sent about 616 metric tons of food to Haiti. This is equivalent to 1.2 million pounds of food.

Peace and Security: Venezuela has been trying to promote peace for the past decade, being a part of the UN is a large part of that. Ensuring the security of Venezuela it has a strong alliance with a powerhouse in Cuba. There are many earthquake shelters in Venezuela because of its location in a earthquake zone. The country of Venezuela is being known as a country of theft but are now implementing harsher laws against crime.

Recovering from Economic Crisis: The last 5 years has been tough on Venezuela, the way Venezuela is trying to improve its economy is through oil, being the largest oil exporter in south america. The economy has been impacted so much that the unemployment rate has been grown by 8%. The government is implementing social programs to create more jobs.

Safe Environment and Quality of Life: President Hugo Chavez has launched Mission tree, which is a program to overcome deforestation. The program has encouraged local communities to come together and plant 10 million trees throughout the country in order to improve quality of life.


Economic Organizations 

Venezuela is not part of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF). President Hugo Chavez wants to set up a new lending institution run by Latin American countries called the bank of the south. He pledged to support it with Venezuela’s booming oil revenues. Venezuela has paid all its debts ahead of time to the IMF and World Bank; Hugo Chavez said that Venezuela do not have to go to Washington nor to the IMF or to the World Bank anymore.

Venezuela has been involved with the WTO as a member since 1 January 1995. The World Trade Organization is dealing with the rules of trade between nations to hele the economy grow. Venezuela's economy has experienced steady growth since it ia a large oil producing country. with high oil and a rise of government expenditures, Venezuela's economy expanded by 9% in 2007.

Political Organizations

Hugo Chavez has been quotated as saying “Our relationship with the African Union has been to strengthen our ties with a continent we have not been in foreign relations with in the past decade.” Venezuela owes a spiritual debt to Africa.

The government of Venezuela see's Hugo Chavez running democratic government. From the point of view of the US, they believe that Hugo Chavez is a dictator. They see Hugo Chavez as a dictator because he told the US to get out of Venezuela as they were on their pursuit of Oil.
